Fic quote: Teach me to sin (DW)

"Rose rests her chin on her hand, stares out the window at the rain and allows her mind to stray. She doesn't listen to the chatter around her, the ever-present background noise of gossip and tall tales, it doesn't interest her. She's heard it all before, it's just the names that seem to change. Absentmindedly she taps the end of her pen on her desk, concentrating on the tap, tap, tap of seconds of her life slipping away.

She feels like she is slowly being suffocated by the mundane, by the rules that tell her how she's supposed to live her life. She thinks of them now as she stares out of the window at the puddles forming in the car park. Ridiculous, nonsensical rules for every occasion; colour inside the lines, don't stare, turn the music down, eat your carrots, sit straight, lather rinse repeat, don't swallow your gum, raise your hand to answer, wash behind your ears, be a good girl. Her head swims. There are too many rules to count, and one more born every minute.

Her thoughts wander to the not-too-distant rules to come, the expected and apparently inescapable; leave school, meet a boy, get married, have a baby, wither and die. Her skin turns to gooseflesh. She wants to run, but there's nowhere to run to, so she stays where she is, sat by the window and with each breath she takes, she feels her world grow smaller.

She closes her eyes and thinks, this can't be all there is. There has to be something more. And then, too late to stop herself she thinks the terrible thought, the one that keeps her awake at night - what if there isn't?"

Oh, Rose! Eu estou um passo à sua frente. Não há. Não para quem não tem um Doctor em sua vida.
